CCIH in Action

CCIH staff and volunteers provide on-site support services to the tenants of Garden Park Apartments our permanent supportive housing project for formerly homeless families. Support services help residents maintain their housing, improve their health, succeed in school and the workplace, and break the cycle of homelessness.

Mercy Housing California is our development partner and co-sponsor for the Garden Park Apartments facility. Mercy Housing’s subsidiary, Mercy Services Corporation, serves as the property management agency.

Our community partners are more than twenty Contra Costa County public and nonprofit health, education, and human services agencies that provide additional on- and off-site support services for our residents.

Working together, we provide life-changing support services to our family residents.

  • immediate mental health and family relations crisis intervention
  • referrals to health and social services in the community
  • life skills coaching
  • assistance with apartment furnishings
  • homework assistance and tutoring for both youth and adults
  • a computer lab with Internet access
  • an emerging reader program
  • social and athletic activities
  • a summer camp scholarship program
  • a community garden
  • health and self-sufficiency education forums on topics such as reproductive health, HIV, child development, and healthy parenting

CCIH does much more than create housing and provide services to tenants.

CCIH works to alleviate homelessness through participation in County forums focused on ending homelessness.

We support and expand linkages among faith-based communities.

We advocate for individuals and families with a variety of health problems including mental illness, chronic physical illness, and alcohol and other drug addictions.

We create new ways for organizations and individuals to get involved and take action to end homelessness through leadership and direct-service volunteer opportunities.
