Garden Park Volunteer Opportunities for Everybody

Volunteering at Garden Park
Our volunteers are an integral part of our support service programs at Garden Park Apartments. Volunteers receive a thorough orientation before working directly with tenants. We do everything we can to ensure that you will have a rewarding experience and be able to make a significant contribution.
The Garden Park Homework Club
Homelessness disrupts children’s eduction. Garden Park Homework Club volunteers work with formerly homeless children, either in groups or one-on-one, to help them learn new skills and regain confidence and self-esteem.
Hours:
Monday through Thursday during the school year. Generally 2:45pm to 5 pm. We prefer that you commit to work once weekly on the same day, although other schedules can be accommodated. Volunteers must attend training and follow program guidelines.
Location:
Garden Park Apartments Community Building.
Volunteer Requirements:
Enthusiasm, flexibility, dependability, ability to work independently, patience, experience working with youth preferably in an educational setting, tutoring/teaching experience a plus. Tutors must be high school age or older.
Site Clean-up
Site clean-up is a great opportunity for your youth or neighborhood group to get outside and make a visible difference. Garden Park Apartments is not just housing. It is home to twenty-seven families with special needs. Keeping the grounds safe and attractive is fundamental to our program. We need help with landscaping, weeding and general site clean-up. Often, you will be working side-by-side with our tenants. Dates and times are flexible. Enjoy a picnic after your hard work is done!
Social Activities
Social activities are an important part of the healing that happens at Garden Park Apartments. We highly encourage your group to come and lead games, craft activities, or host a picnic for the tenants. We have great grounds, a BBQ, a swimming pool, and lots of kids to entertain. Dates and times are flexible. Be creative!
Educational Workshops
Do you have practical, professional expertise that you would like to share with our tenants? We maintain a roster of qualified speakers. Topics may be health-related, or of general interest. In the past, we have had successful workshops led by volunteer experts on topics such as parenting, nutrition, cooking, and home repair. Please call us to discuss how you can contribute.
Trade and Craft Workshops
Share your trade and craft know-how with Garden Park youth or adults. Throughout the year, talented volunteers come and teach trade and craft-making skills to our tenants. Workshops may be one-time affairs or courses with multiple sessions. You bring the supplies, and let the fun begin!
For more information, read our Craft Workshop Guidelines.
